Tips for creating a strong password
It's all about being impossible to guess - even for those who know you or may have researched you. It should also stand up to brute force attacks - this is where someone trying to gain access to your details may set up a computer program to try millions of different combinations, at rates of up to 200 per second! Your account on this web site is automatically safe from these sort of criminals: after 3 wrong password attempts, your account is suspended so even if they did guess it, it would be of no use.
Other tips for making your password unguessable and more difficult to 'crack':
- It should not be a simple word, or contain your name, date of birth or other personal details
- IT SHouLD uSe BoTH LoWeRCaSe aND uPPeRCaSe LeTTeRS
- It should contain some numbers too
- It should contain other, non alphanumeric characters such as @, #, ! or £.
- Finally, length. You should be looking at including at least 10-15 characters. For added security, go for a minimum of 20.
